What is a maintenance shift report?
A Shift Report is an end-of-shift record that is generally created by the outgoing maintenance team, which summarizes:
- What was worked on
- Current condition of assets that were worked on
- Potential risks (safety, downtime, etc.)
- What needs to happen next
The benefits of a shift report
A maintenance shift (handover) report delivers speed and continuity between crews. It lets teams know what was done and what to be aware of so that the incoming team can carry on without having to understand context from the outgoing team. It also helps support improvements in asset reliability. It provides structured notes on asset health, corrective actions, readings, and the use of spare parts. Maintenance teams can use this information to identify “bad actors”, PM adjustments, and strategies for managing spare parts.
How Zoidii has leveraged AI for our maintenance shift report
We’ve leveraged AI to comb through all the data in your work orders, remove any non-pertinent information, and provide you with concise summaries of the information that matters the most to your operations.
We’ve removed the white noise – equipment inspections that have gone off without any issues, daily facility walkthroughs that found nothing abnormal, or PMs that didn’t require any follow-ups.
The report gives you the information that matters:
- What tasks failed and required follow-on work
- What parts were consumed when work was being done
- Technician notes that provide context to why assets have failed
- Technician advice on adjustments to PMs
